QPR's Taarabt set for Fulham medical

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt is set to have a medical at west London rivals Fulham ahead of a proposed season-long loan move.

The Morocco international, 24, wants an instant Premier League return after being relegated with QPR last season.

Fulham boss Martin Jol was Tottenham manager when Spurs signed Taarabt as a teenager from French side Lens in 2007.

Taarabt did not make the matchday squad for QPR's season opener, a 2-1 home win against Sheffield Wednesday.

Reports claimed he was sent home from the club's pre-season training camp  in Devon last month after turning up late for a training session.

Taarabt has made 150 league appearances for the Loftus Road club since joining them, initially on loan, in March 2009.

The move was made permanent in August 2010 and he was named as the Championship's player of the year in 2010-11 on the way to helping Rangers win promotion to the top flight.

He played 31 times in the Premier League last season, scoring five goals, as the R's finished bottom of the table.
