Xbox One launch scaled back, eight countries delayed until 2014

One of the many things that Microsoft initially claimed about the Xbox One is that it would launch in 21 countries when it goes on sale in November. Like with the always-online, Steam-style DRM and a permanently attached Kinect before it, this plan too is being walked back.

Xbox One will now launch in just 13 markets. Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, and New Zealand will all receive the console in November.

Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland, originally also due to be part of this first wave, have now been pushed back to 2014. Microsoft cites extra work localizing the software, partnering with local companies to create apps, and supporting additional voices and languages as the reasons for the delay.

As a small consolation, anyone in one of these delayed countries who has placed a pre-order for the console will be given a game when the device eventually ships.

Castle Season 6 Production Delayed Amidst Nathan Fillion's Feud With ABC

The Castle has been breached.

Production on the ABC hit series' upcoming sixth season was delayed last week due to star Nathan Fillion's feud with ABC Studios, sources confirm to E! News. Fillion failed to show up to work on Friday, July 12, amidst contract disputes as he is pushing for a four-day workweek. Deadline first repored the news of Fillion's no-show.

A rep for ABC tells us Fillion was on set Tuesday and was scheduled to be there, with a source confirming production is moving forward.

While our sources spill that ABC and the show's producers want to keep Fillion happy, it's hard for production to move to a four-day work week as he is in almost every scene.

Fillion tweeted from Castle's set on Thursday, July 11, but was noticably Twitter silent on the following day. The actor, who recently starred in Joss Whedon's film Much Ado About Nothing, posted a photo of himself and guest star Lisa Edelstein from the set on Thursday, saying, "Sitting with @lisaedelstein discussing twitter. Is she a doll? Yes, yes she is."

When asked by a fan if he was happy to be back with the Castle family, Fillion posted a photo of crew members, saying, "Wouldn't you be?"

Castle returns for its sixth season on Monday, Sept. 23.
